Lutterworth Community Transport Service come to visit Armourgeddon
We recently enjoyed a visit from The Lutterworth Community Transport Service who brought a group of visitors to Armourgeddon for a day at the Museum and for tank rides. Here's what the group do and a bit of a summary of their time on site.
In addition to running minibus services, the Community Transport Service also provide a door to door car service. This relies on the good nature of our team of volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles to transport clients to and from various commitments. This can be for medical appointments, visiting friends or relatives as well as shopping trips. So if you or someone you know has trouble accessing regular public transport services – then give the team a call on the number below.
Our fleet of four minibuses can often be seen around the area and provide regular shopping trips both local and further afield together with occasional trips to the likes of garden centres, museums and other interesting locations. Transport is also provided to lunch clubs on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
A recent trip was to the Armourgeddon military vehicle and tank-driving centre near Husbands Bosworth. Those on that inaugural visit thoroughly enjoyed looking around the collection of military vehicles and museum, together with watching the tank driving activity! Indeed a few were so enthused, they embarked on a ride in one of the tanks – and had an exciting time!!..
In addition to the trips mentioned, a number of varied tours are also undertaken. Sometimes provided by the Community Transport Service directly or by hiring a mini-bus to third parties for their own independent trip. Such trips recently have included a pilgrimage tour of Yorkshire by a Christians Aware group, the Claybrooke ‘Forget-Me-Not’ club to Loughborough for a canal boat trip and even supporters of an eating disorder charity going to Peterborough for a parachute jump!
