What could be stranger than seeing a WWII tank driving down the road? Seeing a WWII tank driving on the Coventry Ring Road? How about seeing a convoy of tanks on the Ring Road whilst a drag race is being started in the background?!

Plan a weekend in Coventry from the 29th to 31st May and you will see this and many more petrol-head loving events throughout the weekend across the city.

Coventry Moto Fest is in its second year in 2015 having attracted over 100,000 visitors in its inaugural year last May. This year, plans are afoot to make the event The Weekend of the year for Coventry.

Coventry MotoFest will get off to a swinging start as internationally acclaimed tribute act The Rat Pack Boys host a free concert on the opening night. A 17-piece band and a Las Vegas-style chorus line will support the singers Tommy Warren and Jonny Gray on the entertainment stage in Broadgate, Coventry, on Friday the 29th May.

MotoFest has teamed up with the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) for 2015 to stage a two-day programme of time trials, drag races, British Formula 3 Cars, Touring Car championship contenders and the Porsche Carrera Cup series cars amongst many many others. In a UK first, Coventry MotoFest will be racing all manner of cars on public roads using the iconic Coventry Ring Road as the racetrack over the weekend festival.

The Cox Street car park opposite Coventry Sports and Leisure Centre, will be transformed into a mini racing circuit, whilst displays of vehicles and stunts will also be staged across the city centre.

In association with Coventry Racing Club, Skoda Motorsport, Triumph Motorcycles and Coventry County Council, MotoFest will set up a live action oval track with racing stock cars, Legends and Rebels as well as the world-renowned Falken International Drift Team to create enough tyre smoke to cover the city!

Static displays across the city will include selections of cars, motorcycles, Massey Ferguson tractors, a dragster, commercial vehicles and even some bicycles.

Why are we telling you about this? Well, where there is a festival of vehicles, we would not be missed out!

An area of the city will also be turned into the MotoFest Military Camp with new and old military vehicles, re-enactors and the Royal Engineers taking centre stage.

As ever, the logistics of moving multiple military vehicles with average top speed of 30mph across the road networks of the Midlands is not without it’s challenges, but we are delighted that this popular festival of all things related to engines, petrol-heads, and speed have included us Military Vehicle-loving re-enactors into their weekend of entertainment. We are planning to bring our favourite tanks out of the museum here on site at Armourgeddon and head over to Coventry, hopefully take a spin along the drag-track and get into position for what is billed as a not-to-be-missed extravaganza this May.

We will of course still be running our usual events on site at Armourgeddon, and with Coventry less than an hour from our base at Soutfield’s Farm. Husbands Bosworth, why not combine a weekend at MotoFest Coventry with a trip to Armourgeddon for a Tank Paintball Battle and a look around our museum.
