As our Tank Paintball Season starts to draw to a close, we thought we would share some of the activities that we run throughout the year with you.

If you are a regular follower of our blog, you will know that our FV432 tanks that we use as a fleet for Tank Paintball here at our Armourgeddon site on Southfields Farm are now slowing heading through their winter maintenance schedule one by one and being covered ready for the winter months. Although they are all terrain vehicles, the FV432’s tracks are prone to breaking in really boggy conditions such as those we face in the cold and wet start to a British winter.

However, the FV432s heading to winter hibernation does not mean that the rest of the activities here at Armourgeddon stop over the cold and wet months. Where there is a log burner, there is activity!!

If you are looking for a military vehicle adventure, we can still help you through the winter. We continue to run event days on Saturdays to suit every need. We also run group sessions during the week if that suits you better.

Military Vehicle Driving Experience. We have a couple of package options for Military Vehicle Driving where you chose from a variety of vehicles. We can book you in a 1-2-1 session with an instructor or into a group of three. Don’t worry, though, you don’t have to provide your other 2 drivers, we will do that for you. For the 1-2-1 sessions, you will pick 2 of the 4 restored ex-army vehicles that we carry as working stock. In the group sessions, it’s 3 vehicles that need to be chosen.

The vehicles to choose from are the 4×4 Medford MJ, the BV 206 Hagglund, Russian BRDM2 or the Ferret Armoured Scout Car.

The 4×4 Bedford MJ was the backbone of the British Army’s transport system. Guaranteed good fun in and out of the muddy track here at Armourgeddon that was once a WWII bombing range.

Your next option is for our gas guzzling four-wheel drive car that can go anywhere. Our BV 206 Hagglund really can cover every imaginable ground surface. The 206 Hagglund is used by Her Majesty’s Elite Special Forces. You will have to learn how to adapt to the strange central pivot steering of the MV 206 as you hurtle around our track.

Option 3 is to take our Russian BRDM2 out for a spin. Favoured by the Eastern battle front military groups, this beast was used to detect chemical weapons – although hopefully you are unlikely to see any of those here at Armourgeddon!

Option 4 is to squeeze yourself into the driving seat if the Ferret Armoured Scout Car. This one has the strangest driving position of any of our military collection. In an almost horizontal ‘sun-lounger’ position, the laid-down driving position certainly doesn’t mean that you are laid back in your control. Far from it, the speed of this nippy vehicle will mean you have to have your wits about you at all times.

If it’s you and your son or daughter who are looking to join us over the winter, our Dad’s and Lads (or any other family member or friend… we just use that title because it sounds good…) can join us in the Russian BRDM2. The adult learns to drive the military vehicle around the track whilst the passenger holds tightly to the back of the cab. After ‘Dad’ has mastered the art of a military maneuver, you jump out an into a static FV432 pitched up on the top track, and practice your target shooting from the stationary tank. Learning to charge, load, aim and fire your weapon at traditional painted targets and at other stationary tanks, you will have to work as a team to get all the actions correct that are required for a successful shot.

Additionally throughout the winter on Saturdays, we run kids parties. Hugely popular, our kids’ parties are £150 for up to 10 kids who all need to be 8 years old, with space for 2 additional children a £15 each. The party experiences a ride in our Bedford truck through the paintball woods each with a paintball gun fixed to the back of the truck pointing outwards into the woods. The kids are taught to load and fire the guns, working to hit the stationary targets scattered throughout the wooded area. They then learn some sniper skills firing the paintball guns at Frosty, our friendly sniper mannequin. With prizes for the best shot and an area for you to provide a tea and the obligatory cake and candles followed by a party bag give-away, your child’s party will be the talk of the playground for months to come.

So, it may be a bit too wet and muddy for the tracks on the FV432s, but there is always something to do here at Armourgeddon during the winter and with all the excitement and our army uniform overalls to wear, you will be having far too much fun to feel the cold.
