Not that we are particularly big celeb-spotters, it’s always a wee bit exciting when you spot an actual real life famous person in the flesh. Given the nature of our activities here, which usually involve mud, mud, a bit more mud, some large machinery, tanks and guns, the type of celebrity we get here is usually the fun-loving variety.

We are not lacking in our celebrity visits though having had a number of A (to Z!) listers pave their way into tanks over the years.

Our Favourite Celebrities

Perhaps our favourite visitors were Scott Mills and David Hasselhoff. There has been quite some relationship built up between these two over the years with Scott Mills’ tongue-in-cheek under current of sarcasm towards all things Hoff but perhaps, actually, quite a friendship too!

The Hoff’s daughters set up the day as a surprise Father’s Day gift for their Dad at Armourgeddon. They spent the day here driving tanks, running tank paintball battles and generally having a blast. The battles were set up UK vs. USA with Stuart and Phil as the instructors here on site. Scott Mills’ team won the battle for the UK team (of course!) and they had a great day.

Filmed as part of the Living TV show ‘Meet the Hasselhoffs’ the show saw special smoke grenades thrown at the tanks and allowed The Hoff and Scott Mills the tank track to play with for a couple of hours.

Tulisa, Dappy and Fazer of the Camden hip-hop group (and latterly of X-Factor fame) came to play paintball in the woodland here on site. Tulisa, after whooping the boys at paintball, was super-skilled at tank manoeuvring and won her Tank Paintball Battle almost single handily.

Other Famous Visitors

The Leicester Tigers Rugby Team had a day last summer playing woodland paintball. Finding them overalls big enough was the biggest challenge at the start of the day. They are not small lads! They had a day jumping out the back of tanks and shooting paintballs at each other- not that they noticed when they had been hit!

The Gadget Show filmed with two ex-Hollyoak’s stars as guest presenters. Darren Jeffries (OB) and Matt Littler (Max Cunningham) filmed an episode from inside our tanks on the track and had a battle at the end of their filming activities.

Ladbaby at Armourgeddon

Husband vrs Wife. Boy vrs Girl. Dad vrs Mum. It’s the battle of all battles, and when that involves a car and the age-old debate of who is the best driver, sparks can fly!!

We had a visit from LadBaby, an internet vlogger following the journey from Lad to Dad.

We were rolled in to settle an argument- who is the best driver? Mum or Dad.

Well, she broke the tank. He nearly broke the sheep. They both laughed a lot.

Top Gear at Armourgeddon

Then of course there is Top Gear. The links with the Top Gear team (as it was) and Armourgeddon are numerous. First of all, The Stig drove our tank at The Husbands Bosworth Festival- and remained in character for the whole day. We presume it was the real Stig… but who really knows? Or is there more than one Stig perhaps?!

Next up, Top Gear At The Movies DVD was filmed using Armourgeddon tanks as props and our instructors as drivers. Richard Hammond and James May arrived in a helicopter at the RAF Bentwaters, the former RAF base, now known as Bentwaters Park to shoot tank driving scenes for the DVD. Most recently, Top Gear magazine came up to Armourgeddon and spent a day racing brand spanking new polished-by-the-showroom perfect Sports Utility Vehicles- a Porsche Macan, an Audi SQ5 and a Range Rover Evoque TDI. With a whole afternoon of SUV chasing tank and tank chasing SUV, photographer on the ground, strapped to the back of a tank being chased by SUV tank, shooting photos down the barrel of the cannon and from every other angle imaginable. The Top Gear Team created quite the article about the best SUV (to drive around a tank paintball track- not very specific at all really!)

A radio station breakfast crew with a debate about smart phone vs old Nokia came to visit at the end of last year and drove a tank over a phone.  The phone looked like something from a bygone era but actually was only about 8 years old- and yes; a Nokia 3210 can withhold being driven over by a tank…

We welcome famous faces

So that’s a brief trip around some of our more famous visitors. Being the only venue worldwide that runs Tank Paintball Battles does mean that there are often well known people here. The next visitor we hope to attract is Guy Martin. He raves about his favourite engine- the equivalent engine that we have in our Centurion. Maybe one day we will convince him to come and drive ours. Not that the speed he will reach in the Centurion is up to his usual pace!
