Our award-winning military museum providers hours of entertainment for the family. With over 50 military vehicles to see (including some famous ones that have starred in Hollywood films), a Bell 47 helicopter, guns and bayonets to hold, there enough to fill a complete day. We house the large collection of war memorabilia too including, military medals and paraphernalia, a Morse code machine and a field telephone to try and relay messages over. There aren’t many places in the UK where you can drive a tank! But you can at Armourgeddon. Our Tank Driving Experience and Tank Experience are great options allowing you or small groups to get to grips with the controls of one of our fleet of 18 FV432s around the tracks at Southfield Farm. The area we use as the training tracks was once a WWII bombing range, so you can get an authentic war-time experience.
If you want to add a little more combat realism to your tank driving experience then why not opt for our flagship activity, Tank Paintball. Unique to Armourgeddon, we’re the only place in the entire country (if not the world) to offer this. Not only can you take the controls of our FV432 tank, but you can fire paintballs at your enemies in a heart-pounding paintball fight. This can be for individuals as well as small groups.
Each of our tanks has a girls name as a nickname and our instructors have their favourites. They will tell you all about that though. Once inside, the mechanics of the tank will be explained and then it’s over to your Dad! He will learn to control and manoeuvre the tank with the drivers hatch open to begin with until he knows what he’s doing. Then it’s hatch shut, periscope up and full battle conditions for the next laps of the track.
After each of the team has mastered the controls, they will head to the static targets and learn to move and aim the cannon, charge and load the paintball and fire at the targets. After laughing at each other and then realizing that they can actually do this, it’s back to base to decide who will take which position in the tank paintball battle.
Once the decision is made on whom the best driver, loader and aimer are, your instructor will pick a battle against another instructor and you will head off onto the track. Now in position it’s a race to get to the first checkpoint. Two paintballs are fired at each of the 6 checkpoints along the battle track. Once fired, the plan is to get to the next checkpoint first, in position and still so as to shoot at the opposition tank before they too get stationary. The winners are the tank crew to get the most direct hits. With the season only just a few weeks in, the instructors are all vying for pole position in the leader board so expect some pretty excited whoooops when you get a direct hit.
